The Princess Bride
"Whatever comes,” she said, “cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it."
— Frances Hodgson Burnett, A Little Princess
But I can still remember the first item of clothing I fell in love with. A skirt, ironically. A white wraparound skirt, it was hardly practical but it was the first skirt I wore voluntarily and I think my mother decided she would take the extra washing if it meant getting me out of jeans.
That was the start and who knows where it'll end. If you were to look into my overflowing wardrobe now you'd probably laugh at the idea of me living in the same jeans, t-shirt and fleece (a blue one I got as a present on holidays) for days on end. I've certainly had people look at me in disbelief when I mention it.
Despite these changes I still wouldn't take up the offer of becoming a princess. Sure the clothes might be great and though Prince William wouldn't be my type who can deny Price Harry is hot? But would you really be able to give up the freedom, the ability to go anywhere, do anything you want? I couldn't. Plus there's still the sound of that child in me, "But you couldn't do anything wearing fancy clothes all day!" And I have to agree.
But while royalty wouldn't be for me (not that I'd ever be offered the chance!) no one can deny that Kate Middleton was the epitome of a princess at her wedding, especially in that dress. And I won't deny I enjoyed watching it!

I must admit I never wanted to be a princess. Never dreamed about it or even let it cross my mind. Other girls pranced around in their communion dresses, dreaming of castles and Prince Charming, but my first thought coming home from the church on the day i wore that puffy dress was getting it off and running around the garden with my cousins. My mother nearly had to force me into it in the morning and it took all her bargaining and persuasion skills to prevent me from taking it off before the pictures were taken.

Good Vibrations
First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend Therese! Hope you had an amazing day.
Feeling really good today, spent most of the day studying Chemistry, which, though it might be surprising, actually puts me in a good mood. I think I'm among the minority of people who really love that subject.
I know I'm nearly two months behind but I have only just seen the Yves Saint Laurent line for A/W 2011/2012. Je l'adore! Especially all the white pieces. If only i were rich...
P.S...A huge thank you to very kind stranger who just said the nicest thing to me!

Chocolate Cake and Procrastination.
Happy Easter everyone!
Hope you're not feeling too sick from over-consumption of egg shaped chocolate, it's the only day you can do it without reprimand. So chocolate plus internet and the Beach Boys (as well as an afternoon spent watching Mary Poppins - haven't seen it since I was about six!) equals me once again putting off study. I've promised myself I will return to it after I've written this post, Robert Frost awaits impatiently.
In other news I bought a debs dress. I can't believe it, I thought I'd be searching for months. It's completely different to what I had in my head but I've been told it looks very Audrey Hepburn-ish, which is always a plus. I also went vintage shopping the other day and bought two gorgeous silk shirts, with a free bracelet thrown in when I was leaving. Little things like that can just make your day!
I can feel the old cabin fever kick in again. I just can't wait for summer and excitement. This day two months and I'll be finished the exams. And then Oxegen is only around the corner. Can't wait to buy my festival gear!

Mustard
I can feel an obsession blooming. I came across these while searching for a pair of wedges for the summer online. I think I'm in love. Unfortunately due to my current financial state (ie. I'm broke), they're just a bit out of my price range. But it doesn't hurt to look right?
Anyone have any suggestions for wedges I can actually afford?
